Daily Picture - Dynasty 25th Anniversary Reunion

Today's picture is from a series of photographs taken at the time of the Dynasty 25th Anniversary Reunion, this one appeared in many daily newspapers carrying news about the forthcoming 2 hour special.
It was called Dynasty The Reunion - Catfights & Caviar and Joan was joined by cast members Linda Evans, John Forsythe, Gordon Thomson, Catherine Oxenberg, plus Al Corley and Pamela Sue Martin, the original Steven and Fallon.

I will be adding other photos from this special on the website very soon, and they'll be another Daily picture tomorrow.

Daily Picture - Private Lives US Tour

This picture is from a set of 6 I obtained through Joan's UK fanclub from the USA tour of Noel Coward's comedy "Private Lives".

Having played to packed audiences in London's West End, it transferred to America in 1992, running from 11th February - 5th April.

Joan is pictured with her two male co-stars, the late Edward Duke (L), who appeared with her again in the Tonight at 8.30 series of Coward's plays for the BBC, and Simon Jones (R) who replaced Keith Baxter from the London production.

Check out the other photos in the Theatre pages of the website.

Daily Picture - Joan with Jackie

I found this gorgeous photo of Joan with Sister Jackie amongst my many files and will be adding it to the website with others. Not sure of the date or venue.

JContheCover - New Countries - Ex Yugoslavia (1987)

Today's post from the box is what is known as a photo novel magazine from ex Yugoslavia.

Dated 1987 Joan is featured on the cover with black and white photos on every page.

This issue would appear to tie in with season 6 as there are pictures of Alexis with King Galen.
Presumably this was a regular publication in Yugoslavia and they show up on Ebay quite often for those who are interested.

JContheCover - New Countries - Iceland

Today I welcome Iceland to the website with the gorgeous cover shot of Joan on a 1984 magazine, which I obtained earlier this year.

This one took a bit of working out with translation software, so apologies if there are any errors. Inside the magazine is a 9 page article with small pictures from the photo-shoot.

Another new country tomorrow!!

Sunday 27 November 2011

JContheCover - New Countries - Brazil

Following on from yesterday's magazine post .... and the same box!!

Today I welcome Brazil to the website with this cover of Joan on Cinelandia from 1958. There are another 2 covers of this magazine which I will add to the website in the next couple of days.

Check back tomorrow for another new cover.

JContheCover - New Countries - South Africa

While sorting through some boxes that haven't seen daylight since my housemove - I came across a file and a stack of new magazines featuring Joan that do not appear on the website.

Thanks to all the fans who have e-mailed me recently, and continue to visit the site and blog - its nice to know that Joan is so popular in so many countries (46 in total have now visited the site)
As previously mentioned the area of most interest are the magazines and covers, so rather than post these new additions straight to the website, I am restarting the popular JConthecover post.

Today I welcome South Africa to the site - this cover of Joan is from July 1985. Unfortunately, I don't have the complete magazine so cannot report on its content or whether Joan just features on the cover.
If anyone owns a copy, please send me an e-mail.

Check back tomorrow for another new magazine cover.

Tuesday 22 November 2011

Daily Picture - Kissing Cousins?

This picture is the elevator scene in Dynasty with Joan and Stephanie Beacham as cousin Sable (or Sybil as Alexis liked to call her).
Every time Alexis pressed the button for the floor of her suite, Sable pressed the call button preventing the elevator from moving and giving her chance to tackle Alexis. Neatly written scene.

Monday 21 November 2011

Daily Picture - Care For A Cinzano?

Today I am featuring another photograph from the classic Cinzano commercials, this one was 'Roller Disco' and as usual Joan had the drink thrown down her front by Leonard.
They certainly don't make adverts like these anymore.

Sunday 20 November 2011

Dynasty - "Where did it go wrong Blake?"

Today's picture is from Dynasty Season 7, the late John Forsythe and Joan in the 2 part episode, "A Love Remembered".

Fans will recall this episode where last minute Ben rescues Blake who had been trapped under a steel beam on the oil rig. Blake and Ben narrowly escape the explosion, but Blake suffers amnesia and can only remember the year is 1964, and his wife Alexis.

So in true Alexis style (what else?) she tells the doctors at the Singapore hospital she is indeed Mrs Carrington and sets her sights on regaining half of the South China Sea Oil Leases back to her name.

This picture was also used as a promotion for the series on an American poster which I will add to the advertising section of the website. I think it was a great storyline, especially the part towards the end of the next episode when Blake recovers and realises he is married to Krystle and Alexis watches from the balcony of the villa has lost him, and it was just "A Love Remembered".

Sunday 13 November 2011

Batman Photos Update

Continuing to update the website, this is one of seven new photos I have added to the Batman TV series page.

This one of Joan as The Siren(AKA.Lorelei Circe)in episode 97 is with Robin the Boy Wonder who was played by Burt Ward in the series.

The other pictures are from the previous episode, "Ring Around The Ridler", with Frank Gorshin as Riddler and Peggy Ann Garner as Betsy Boldface.

TV Adverts - Dynasty DVD

Todays post is this Dynasty advert for Season 1 and 2's release on DVD. Here in the UK we are eagerly awaiting the release of Season 7, hopefully it won't be too long.

Following on from yesterday's post of film adverts, which have been quite popular - thanks to those of you who sent e-mails. I'll also be adding a series of adverts to the website for Television Shows that Joan has appeared in/guest starred in.

Visitors to the site will know there is already a page dedicated to all the Dynasty adverts from US TV Guides that I have collected over the years.

Friday 11 November 2011

NEW - Film Adverts

Recently while sorting through my collection, I came across this film advert for Rally Round The Flag Boys and thought it should be added to the site. These adverts appeared in magazines of the 1950's to 1980's including Films in Review, Photoplay, Film Review and Picturegoer, which is where I believe this one came from.

I went through some of these old publications and also found a seller on Ebay (thanks Ian!!) who deals in these and have recently purchased from him and will be adding those on the site very soon.

Thursday 27 October 2011

Dynasty Daily - The Court of Queen Joan

In Season 8 of the series, there was an episode called "The Fair" in which Alexis decides to hold an Olde English Fair.
This first picture shows Joan in costume as Elizabeth I, before the tug-of-war contest she has with Krystle, which sees Alexis falling face first into the vat of mud.

The second rarily seen picture is from the same episode, Alexis announces the highlight of the evening will be a film of Blake and Krystle touring a rehabilitation centre, however it just so happens that the film has been edited with excerpts of Blake's visits to a brothel ran by Cora Van Heusen.

I'm certain I have pictures of the tug-of-war contest and will feature them in a future post.

Saturday 22 October 2011

Dynasty Daily

Today's photo is of Joan wearing a multicolored jacket and matching scarf from the opening of the episode "Ben" (Dynasty Season 6).

A smaller version appears on the UK DVD cover.

Friday 21 October 2011

Spanish Poster - Girl In The Red Velvet Swing.

The majority of the foreign posters of films Joan made in the 1950's differ from the English and American designs, often with more vibrant colours, and designs similar to the foreign lobby cards I have featured in previous posts.

This is the Spanish poster for 'The Girl In The Red Velvet Swing' which starred Ray Milland and Farley Granger.

Dynasty Daily - Blake's Women.

Today's Dynasty picture is from 1982 as Joan was just joining the cast of Dynasty. With John Forsythe as Blake Carrington, pictured from left to right are Heather Locklear (Sammy Jo), Pamela Bellwood (Claudia), Linda Evans (Kystle), John Forsythe, Joan Collins (Alexis) and Pamela Sue Martin (Fallon #1).

Thursday 20 October 2011

Dynasty Daily

Most of the e-mails I receive from fans and people round the world at some stage usually ask the same question, "What do you collect of Joan?". The answer is "most things" and they cannot believe when I tell them how the collection which started with a serialisation from a National newspaper on the eve of Joan's 50th birthday back in 1983 has grown to what you see and more on the website.

I received an e-mail some weeks ago from someone who had come across the site asking if I could do a blog feature of Dynasty photos featuring Joan.
The answer would be "Yes"

Today's is a rather unusual picture of Joan with Linda during their first catfight in Alexis' studio. As you can see Alexis would grab anything to throw at Krystle - no vase remained safe when these two came to blows .....

Friday 14 October 2011

"NEW" Daily Picture - Pacific Palisades

Today I am featuring a picture of Joan as Christina Hobson with co-star Lucky Vanous (Matt Dunning) from the short-lived 1997 series Pacific Palisades.

The series which was axed after 13 episodes also starred Finola Hughes, who fans will remember starred alongside Joan in the film Nutcracker. Other cast members included Greg Evigan and Kimberley Davies.
I will be adding more photos from the series to the website and blog soon.

Thursday 13 October 2011

New Arrivals

Apologies to everyone about the lack of posts for the last 3 weeks - as previously mentioned with a full time job its not easy to keep this and the website running. However, I have started to sort through the collection again and will be adding a NEW ARRIVALS page to the site allowing me to highlight new items in the collection. After a period of time they will be moved to their respective pages of the website.

Today I am featuring this item which I obtained this week - it is a window advert from America for the film 'The Girl In The Red Velvet Swing' and I have to say I've not seen this style of advert before. It measures approx. 11"x4". Others I have in the collection are full size and colour so this was a nice addition.

On The Newstand - 21 September 1985

This magazine, Le Lundi from 1985 was another magazine that regularly featured Joan on its cover.
This one is with her youngest daughter, Katyana (Katy). Inside is the cover photo plus other black & white photos across a 3 page article, "Comment J'ai Sauve Ma Fille De La Mort" which translated is about Katy's accident which Joan later wrote about in a book "Katy, A Fight For Life".

On The Newstand - 20 September 1986

Between 1982 and 1987 Joan appeared on the cover of this Australian magazine 16 times, and 15 of those were full cover.
As Joan will soon be heading 'down under' with her one woman show, lets hope she can grace the cover of Australian magazines once again.

The article in this issue was about her marriage breakdown to her husband at the time, Peter Holm, "Joan weeps as hubby walks out".
I will feature other covers in this magazines series in future posts on the blog.

Monday 19 September 2011

On The Newstand - 19 September 1987

This rare magazine called Limited Edition was only available for one day in my home town, so I haven't seen many of these appearing on Ebay!!
It was published by the local newspaper, The Evening Telegraph and Joan appeared on its cover twice, although the second time was not full cover.

This issue carried a 3 page article promoting the new autobiography written by Joan's father, Joe Collins entitled "A Touch of Collins" with pictures of both Joan and Jackie.

Sunday 18 September 2011

On The Newstand - 15 September 1987

This Italian magazine is another of my favourite covers.
Fans will remember that the cover picture was used on the video "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Joan Collins But Were Afraid To Ask" the re-release title of the 1980's "Joan Collins Video Special"

Inside this magazine is a 5 page article, "Presenera A Corte Il Quinto Marito with colour pictures throughout.

On The Newstand - 14 September 1985

Over the years Joan has appeared countless number of times on the covers of English women's magazines.

Today it is the turn of Woman from 1985 this lovely picture of her and inside a 3 page article, "Joan Collins The Power and the Glory" with pictures taken on the set of Sins which Joan was currently producing and starring in at that time.

On The Newstand - 12 September 1955

Staying with the 1950's for today's magazine post, and the famous cover of Life magazine, featuring Joan as Evelyn Nesbit from the film, "The Girl In The Red Velvet Swing", and a 3 page article, 'Lovely Girl, Lurid Crime' about the Thaw-White Murder and the making of the film.

It would be just over 30 years when Joan would grace the cover of this American magazine again, in October 1985, so watch out for that one coming soon.

Sunday 11 September 2011

On The Newstand - 11 September 1954

Star Trek - New Photos

This is one of 8 new photographs that I have just added to the site.

Check out the others by visiting the Star Trek page
which can be found in the Television galleries section of the website.

WEBSITE NEWS!!

I was very excited to find earlier today that the website had received it's 1000th visitor.
The site records and gives me statistics which show that 50.9% of vistors are from the UK, and 23.1% are from the United States.

In total 45 different countries have visited the site since it stared as shown on the flag map on the home page. I am thrilled that so many countries have an interest in Joan .... and my collection.

With a regular job to hold onto, it can sometimes be difficult to update the blog on a daily basis - but I will try and keep it as up to date as possible and also continue working on the website.

Finally, a big thank you to all those who have taken the time to e-mail me.

Best Wishes
Richard

On The Newstand - September 1985

Of all the magazines in the archives, I don't have one for today, 10th September, so I am featuring one from September 1985 which being a monthly publication would have been on sale 26 years ago today

Following the overwhelming worldwide success of Joan's appearance in the December 1983 (January 1984 in some countries)issue of Playboy, Joan was featured on the cover of the September 1985 issue of American Playgirl magazine, alongside her then new Dynasty co-star, Michael Nader.

Inside was a 6 page article, simply called 'Joan Collins', and for fans of Michael Nader, a 1 page article, "Dynasty's Delectable Dex".

Friday 9 September 2011

As with other magazines featured in this week's posts, Joan was a regular on the cover of US magazine, and these can be found on the website.

I have received e-mails from fans asking for more details on magazine articles and I am currently looking at the best way to do this - so watch this space.

Pictures throughout the 6 page article

Bookstands Vs Newstands

Earlier this year I ran a daily feature called 'On The Newstands' which proved quite popular with many fans. With Joan's new book, 'The World According to Joan' now on sale, and with quite a few new titles added to my collection this year - I thought now is an ideal time to pick up this feature again.
Today's magazine goes back 24 years to September 6th 1987 and was a one day issue called You Magazine. This was published weekly with the English Sunday newspaper, The Mail on Sunday, and Joan featured on the cover a number of times and I have all the covers in my collection.

Clad in black leather inside was a 3 page article, "I'm Just An Old-Fashioned Girl" and as the year was 1987, her new mini-series, Sins was about to start on UK TV, so the article carried pictures from that too.

Check back tomorrow for another magazine from the archives.....

New Book - The Wait is Over!!

Here it is "The World According to Joan". I got my copy this week at local Sainsbury's store (promotion price £5.00) where it appears to have entered the book charts at no 3.
Naturally, I started to read it straight away hot from the shelves.

Fans who have long awaited its publication will know that Joan covers a range of different subjects in the book, from Fame,Children,Glamour,Travel,Men, Manners,Aging,Food and Values. 214 pages in total.

Dynasty Photos

Having recently updated the layout of the Dynasty gallery on the website I received several e-mails asking if I had any new pictures of Joan from the show. The answer to this question is YES!!, I have several.

This lovely one was taken on set during filming of the last episode and shows Joan with Stephanie Beacham as Sable Colby and Michael Nader (Dex).

Judging by their smiles, not sure if they have already filmed the balcony plunge scene.

Daily Picture - Breakfast in Bed!!

Its "All New Pictures Time!!" I have a file of around 150 new photographs of Joan that do not appear on the website. These have been purchased over the last 2-3 years and kept on file ready for publishing.

Today is a lovely colour portrait of Joan in a scene from the 1984 comedy "The Cartier Affair", which Joan made with David Hasselhoff. The movie went straight to a video release, I remember paying £19.99 for my first VHS copy. The movie has since been re-released on DVD both here and in the US.

Another photo tomorrow.
