On the Newstand - 7th January 1989

In the archives today we go back 25 years to 1989 and this popular UK magazine (no longer in print) called Weekend.  Joan was featured on their cover at least 8 times between 1978 and 1989.
This cover which featured her Dynasty co-stars, John Forsythe and Linda Evans was a feature on the shake up of all US soap operas.

DVD News - Dynasty Season 7

The wait is over!! Season 7 got it's UK release on 30th January 2012, which is good news for all Dynasty fans. Having pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk back in December, I received mine this morning, so hot off the press are the details.
Season 7 picks up the end of the previous season, with Alexis (Joan Collins) in the clutches of Blake (John Forsythe) as in his rage at the thought of losing the Carrington mansion, he goes for the jugular and viewers were left wondering whether this time, he would kill his ex-wife? But Krystle (Linda Evans)intervenes and allows Alexis to live through the season, no doubt with a plan or two up her designer sleeve.
The Season contains all 28 episodes on 7 discs. The picture on the left is from the 2 part episode "A Love Remembered", on Disc No 4.

Daily Picture - Dynasty 25th Anniversary Reunion

Today's picture is from a series of photographs taken at the time of the Dynasty 25th Anniversary Reunion, this one appeared in many daily newspapers carrying news about the forthcoming 2 hour special.
It was called Dynasty The Reunion - Catfights & Caviar and Joan was joined by cast members Linda Evans, John Forsythe, Gordon Thomson, Catherine Oxenberg, plus Al Corley and Pamela Sue Martin, the original Steven and Fallon.

I will be adding other photos from this special on the website very soon, and they'll be another Daily picture tomorrow.

Dynasty - "Where did it go wrong Blake?"

Today's picture is from Dynasty Season 7, the late John Forsythe and Joan in the 2 part episode, "A Love Remembered".

Fans will recall this episode where last minute Ben rescues Blake who had been trapped under a steel beam on the oil rig. Blake and Ben narrowly escape the explosion, but Blake suffers amnesia and can only remember the year is 1964, and his wife Alexis.

So in true Alexis style (what else?) she tells the doctors at the Singapore hospital she is indeed Mrs Carrington and sets her sights on regaining half of the South China Sea Oil Leases back to her name.

This picture was also used as a promotion for the series on an American poster which I will add to the advertising section of the website. I think it was a great storyline, especially the part towards the end of the next episode when Blake recovers and realises he is married to Krystle and Alexis watches from the balcony of the villa has lost him, and it was just "A Love Remembered".

JConthecover: Detroit Free Press (1991)

This American magazine from 1991 was one of many covers around at the time to promote the Dynasty Reunion special which tied up all the loose ends from the original series. I have more covers in the archives, and will also be looking at the 25th Anniversary special "Catfights and Caviar" in future posts.

Awards: 1983 Emmys

This photograph of the late John Forsythe with Joan and Linda Evans was taken at the 1983 Emmy Awards at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Pasadena in California on 25th September 1983.
The ceremony hosted by Eddie Murphy & Joan Rivers saw both John and Linda nominated for awards, John for Outstanding Lead Actor and Linda for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama series (Dynasty),unfortunately neither of them won.

As for Joan, well it wasn't until 1984 that she was nominated for the award, in the same category as Linda, and I will feature pictures of that in a future post.
