Dynasty - Mud
They threw items at each other in the studio catfight, fought in the lilypond, and as this photo shows, in Season 6 Alexis and Krystle fight over Blake this time in the mud.
JContheCover: VideoArab (1987)
Back to 1987 for today's magazine from the archives. A fantastic cover shot of fur clad Joan from Dynasty. Fans will remember the episode when Alexis attempts to move Jeff Colby to a private clinic to cover up for Adam who had poisoned him with the toxic fumes from his newly painted office.
The magazine is written completely in Arabic, the only English I can make out is the date, March 1987. Inside is a 4 page article with 8 colour pictures.

Shocking Reunion ....
They Swore They'd Never Work Together Again - was the headline on this advert from US People magazine, advertising the premiere of the film "These Old Broads", starring Joan, Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds and Shirley MacLaine.

Flintstone Joan ...
These pictures were taken at the London Premiere of "The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas" in July 2000. The one on the right shows Joan arriving at the premiere, and on the left Joan is flanked by two men, suitably attired in prehistoric dress.
In the film which was the prequel to the 1994 version, Joan plays Pearl Slaghoople, Wilma's mother, the role previously played by Elizabeth Taylor.

JContheCover: Hollywood Studio Magazine (1984)
The magazine I am featuring today is the US title; Hollywood Studio Magazine from September 1984, and this issue is dedicated to Movie Bad Girls.
Joan shares the cover with another Hollywood Legend, Bette Davis, who fans will know she starred alongside in The Virgin Queen.
Inside there is a 3 page article entitled,"Season of the Bitch". The magazine also features great articles on Susan Hayward & Eleanor Parker.
Joan appeared on the Hollywood Studio Magazine another 3 times after this one, twice on her own and a similar cover design to this one, shared with Marilyn Monroe. I will feature these in future posts.

JContheCover: Man About Town (1979)
I have chosen this English magazine from March 1979 for today's post.
As Joan has appeared on so many magazines over the years, as illustrated in the magazine section of my website, it can be difficult knowing which one to feature next.
This issue came out as Joan was completing filming of "The Bitch", and inside is a 2 page article "Age Has Not Wearied Her".
The Wayward Bus - MLC
This is another Mexican Lobby Card which I recently added to my collection. It is for the Wayward Bus in which Joan starred alongside Jayne Mansfield and Dan Dailey.
The colour and artwork on the Mexican Lobby Cards is so much more vibrant than the UK and US ones, and I will feature more of them in future posts.

Dynasty Advert
With the release of Dynasty Season 6 in the UK, I thought it would be good to dust off some more of the adverts fpr the series that I have in my collection. Previously I have featured those from the US TV Guide Magazine, this one today is a colour version, although I'm not sure which publication it originally appeared in?

DYNASTY - SEASON 6
I was thrilled to receive news from Amazon.co.uk that Season 6 would be released on 24 January 2011. Just over 6 months since the release of Season 5 (21/6/2010) we can only hope that the last 3 seasons will follow within the next 18 months.
This season picks up on the Royal Wedding Cliffhanger from the last series, where we learn which members of the cast did not get their contracts renewed.
It also introduces new characters in the English form of Christopher Cazenove as Blake's brother, Ben and Kate O'Mara as Caress, Alexis' sister, and features the great storyline of Rita & Krystle, and guest stars George Hamilton, Charlton Heston and Barbara Stanwyck
30 episodes in total, Dynasty fans are treated to another scrap between Alexis and Krystle, this time involving mud, a swimming pool brawl between Amanda and Sammy Jo and a cliff hanger - Blake attempting to kill Alexis.
Incidentally, the first episode of Season 6 was the only one which Joan did not appear in since she joined the cast. Apparently stories in the press at the time said that Aaron Spelling had suspended her for demanding a pay rise in line with Colby's star Charlton Heston.
I understand that Season 5 is still not released in the US, and that volume 2 of Season 4 only came out February 2010.
Empire Of The Ants (1977)
Today I am featuring 2 B&W pictures from the 1977 film Empire of the Ants.
Directed by Bert I. Gordon, based on the short story by H.G. Wells, Joan plays a real estate agent, Marilyn Fryser who wants to sell property to some prospective buyers unaware that some ants have been feeding from steel drums containing Radioactive waste washed up on the beach, causing them to grow to enormous size and end up brainwashing their victims at a sugar refinery.
Made before the days of Dynasty and obviously on a low budget, Joan wears the same outfit (striped shirt, beige sweater and off white gaucho skirt) for the whole 90 minute movie.
Compare that to the mini-series Sins in which she had 85 costume changes - I think we're talking "low budget", Joan mentions in interviews that they even did their own stunts (no doubles on the payroll) and this meant swimming in infested waters of the Florida swamps, complete with crocodiles etc.
Released on DVD in 2002. I have more stills and items from the film for future posts.
