JContheCover(s) - News of the World Magazines 1985 - 1988

As mentioned in yesterday's post, in the 80's the News of the World newspaper regularly featured Joan on the cover of their magazine supplement, "Sunday". Yesterday, I featured the first in my collection, from 1984 - here are the other 5 as a tribute to the newspaper.

This first one from July 1985 was to promote the new mini series, Sins that Joan was producing and starring in. It featured an adaptation of the book by Judith Gould with pictures of Joan and the cast throughout.

The June 8, 1986 issue featured Joan as Madame Du Pompadour her choice of costume for the Masquerade party where Alexis brings Ben Carrington (Christopher Cazenove) back to Denver (Dynasty Season 6).

It was back to the mini series for the August 10, 1986 issue of the magazine, and the picture of Joan from Monte Carlo based on the novel by Stephen Sheppard. Inside was a 2 page article with pictures from the production.

The 1987 issue, dated February 8 featured an article about Joan's daughter Katy and her then divorce from husband number 4 - Peter Holm.

The last issue that I have in my collection was from November 1988 and featured Joan on the cover in Dynasty scenes with co-star Michael Nader (Dex Dexter). Inside a 1 1/2 page article, "I've Spent All My Life Trying to Please Men" about her marriages and then news and pictures from a forthcoming episode of Dynasty.

Goodbye News Of The World

Tomorrow, July 10th will be the last time this UK newspaper appears on newstands. It has been running for 168 years, during which time it has covered many celebrities .... including Joan.

On the 10 November 1985, Joan was featured on the front pages and inside a 2 page article as she married for the 4th time in Las Vegas, swedish pop star Peter Holm.

They also boosted my JContheCover and many other fan's collections by featuring her on the cover of their magazine Supplement 'Sunday' regularly from 1984-1988.

Mexican Lobby Cards

This is another recent addition to my collection of Mexican Lobby Cards. Who can forget Joan starring alongside Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward in the comedy Rally Round The Flag Boys or the Mexican title, "El Inconquistable Sexo Debil"?
This card is one of four I acquired, the others can be found on the website.

Daily Picture - Joan Goes To The Movies

Today's picture from my collection dates back to August 1987 and shows Joan with then boyfriend Bill Wiggins arriving at the premiere of the James Bond film 'The Living Daylights'.

Daily Picture - Sunburn

This rare picture of Joan is taken from the 1979 movie 'Sunburn' in which she played Nera.
Joan only had a small part in the film, the late Farrah Fawcett was cast as Ellie and Charles Grodin as Jake.

The movie also featured roles for Eleanor Parker and Keenan Wynn who both appeared in the 1967 movie, 'Warning Shot' alongside Joan.

Daily Picture - Joan gets Stung

Back in September 1975 when Joan made a guest appearance on the TV show 'Switch' the episode was called 'Stung From Beyond". Today's daily picture features Joan with the pop star Sting.

Not sure of the age or any event details of this photo I've had in my collection for a number of years, if anyone knows please drop me an e-mail or post under comments.
