Is There Much Down There, Joan?
This picture from March 1989 was used in UK newspaper reports at the launch of the 2nd wax figure of Joan and it's unveiling at Madame Tussards waxworks in London.
According to reports Joan was not impressed with the model, and didn't like the hair, it was "too tightly curled and not dark like mine" she told Tussards staff, and "The face isn't right either - why the lipstick doesn't even cover my lips".
The £2000.00 gold lame gown was made by royal designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel to Joan's order.
The figure was to feature in a gallery of Hollywood stars alongside Michael Caine, Sylvester Stallone, Cher and Eddie Murphy, standing on a staircase as shown in this second press photo.
When I saw the waxwork on a trip to the museum days later, I wasn't impressed with it either and much preferred the first one from 1985.

On The Newstands ... 29 March
Today's featured magazine is from France, the year is 1984 and Joan shares the cover of Confidences with Dallas star, Larry Hagman.
The 2 page article inside about War between the 2 soap operas and would their producers consider joining them together with Joan and Larry appearing in each others shows?

Mexican Lobby Card
This Mexican Lobby Card for Tales From The Crypt is a recent addition to my collection.
Made in 1972 this film was about 5 different people who get lost in catacombs and are shown the future by a sinister monk who turns out to be Satan.
Joan plays Joanne Clayton, and in this scene has just killed her husband, Richard (played by Martin Boddey), but it wouldn't be Christmas without a visit from Santa Claus, although in this film you might think differently.
Other cast members were Sir Ralph Richardson, Peter Cushing, Richard Greene & Barbara Murray
