TV: Blondes vs Brunettes

This special was made in the Dynasty hiatus of 1984, and saw Joan team up alongside Morgan Fairchild (Flamingo Road), and set out to prove the old saying that "Blondes have more fun than Brunettes".

This rare still is from the opening. Later in the show there was a funny take of Dynasty with Joan playing the part of Krystle and Morgan cast as Alexis who meet in the hair salon with disasterous results.....

Books: Second Act

It was 11 years later that Joan re-wrote her autobiography, the title "Past Imperfect" was gone and it appeared on shelves in booksellers under the title "Second Act"

In 1997 it was published in the USA with this cover, personally I like this one more than the UK version.

Books: Past Imperfect

This rare poster from 1979 was used to advertise Joan's autobiography, first published in the UK by W.H Allen & Co Ltd in 1978.

I purchased my first copy in 1983.

The book was released in the USA in 1984.

It was published in Germany in 1984 but with a different cover, fans will recognise this as the photo used on the 1983 issue of Playboy.

And in 1985 it was updated with "sizzling new material" and published in the UK in paperback format with this cover.

And in the USA with this one.

JConcover:Australian Woman's Weekly (1978)

This rare 1978 Australian magazine features Joan on the cover and inside a 3 page article, "Joan Collins, actress, rebel, author-coming to Australia". This was a tour to promote her first autobiography, "Past Imperfect". Also in the magazine was a separate article where a journalist from the magazine meets Joan.

Film: The Girl In The Red Velvet Swing

3 stills from the film which was released on video by CBS Fox in 1989 as part of the All Time Greats series, which will be featured at a later date.

This is the paperback book by Charles Samuels, which the film was based on.

JConthecover: Picture Show (1956)

Today's magazine from the collection is a 1956 issue of Picture Show, featuring Joan as Evelyn Nesbit with Farley Granger from the film "The Girl In The Red Velvet Swing", which also starred Ray Milland. Inside the magazine is a 1 page story of the film in pictures.

Film: Nutcracker

This film made in 1982 featured Finola Hughes as a Russian ballet dancer who defects and joins a London Ballet company run by Madame Carrere (played by Joan).
The film also featured Carol White, Paul Nicholas and Lesley Ash.

It was in 1997 that Joan worked alongside Finola again when she was cast as Christina Hobson in 7 episodes of Aaron Spelling's then new show Pacific Pallisades, which I will feature in another post.
